Stage Coach Players Present Musical Variety Show Dedicated to Growing Up

DEKALB, ILL, June 16, 2021 – Join Stage Coach Players (SCP) in July when they present a musical variety show that celebrates growing up called When I Grow Up.  The production is not only for the young but also for the young at heart because we are always growing up!

When I Grow Up includes the cast of SCP’s original cast of Matilda the Musical which was scheduled to be performed in July of 2020 and then in 2021.  The wonderful musical however, was cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions.  Directed by Cortney Jo Newby, the cabaret explores the different stages of life that children experience as they go from adolescence to adulthood.  This powerful look at growing up through song is relatable and relevant, no matter your age.

The show includes a diverse cast, with over 30 members ranging from ages of 6 to 60 and will include songs from Matilda, along with many other songs that pertain to growing up from musicals such as Peter Pan; Frozen; Elf, the MusicalRuthless; School of Rock; A Chorus Line; The Book of Mormon; Freaky Friday, and A Christmas Story.

Performances for When I Grow Up are July 9 – 10, 2021 and July 16 – 17, 2021, with a curtain time of 7:30 p.m. along with Sunday matinees on July 11 and July 18, 2021, with a curtain time of 2:00.  There will be no Thursday evening performances for this production.

Tickets are $20 each or $18 for seniors and children aged 13 and under.  Tickets are currently on sale through the box office phone at 815-758-1940.  Tickets will be available online July 1, 2021, to purchase, and will be available at the door to purchase if the production is not sold out.

Thank you again for being patient as SCP navigates through its summer shows.  SCP is updating seating mitigation requirements based on the State of Illinois “Restore Illinois” COVID-19 Mitigation Guidelines.  The State of Illinois now allows for SCP to be at full seating capacity with unvaccinated adults and children continuing to wear masks while in the theatre.

If you have any questions about the COVID-19 mitigations or any future SCP production, please contact the box office.  SCP invites you to grow up and old with us!
