Stage Coach Players Brings Holiday Smiles as They Invite Buddy the Elf to DeKalb

DEKALB, ILL, November 17, 2021 – Stage Coach Players (SCP) invites you to help them spread Christmas cheer this December.  To do that, SCP will be singing Christmas songs for all to hear as they present the modern holiday classic, Elf The Musical.  The production to be produced at the historic Egyptian Theatre opens on December 16th and runs through December 19th.

Elf The Musical is directed by Jan Kuntz who last directed Disney’s The Little Mermaid in 2019.  John Feken is musical director with Samantha Haywood choreographing the production.  Based on the popular film, Elf The Musical follows Buddy, the Elf, a human raised in the North Pole at Santa’s workshop as an elf.  Upon learning that he is not an actual Elf, Santa sends him on a quest to New York City to find his real father, Walter Hobbs.

Much to Buddy’s chagrin, Hobbs, a children’s book publisher, is on Santa’s naughty list!  While in New York, Buddy also meets Jovie, a young woman who works at Macy’s and maintains a very cynical outlook on life.  Buddy is determined to win over Jovie and his new family along with anyone else he encounters and to help them embrace the true meaning of Christmas.

Elf The Musical opened on Broadway in 2010 at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre during the holiday season breaking theatre box office records.  It starred Sebastian Arcelus as Buddy along with George Wendt as Santa Claus.  It was revived two years later and in 2014 and then was made into an animated television special.

Performances for Elf The Musical are December 16 – 18, 2021, with a curtain time of 7:30 p.m. along with matinee performances on December 18 and December 19, 2021, with a curtain time of 2:00.  All performances will be held at the Egyptian Theatre.  Tickets start at $20 each or $15 for seniors and children aged 12 and under.  Tickets are currently on sale through the SCP website at www.stagecoachplayers.com.  You can also order tickets by phone from the Egyptian Theatre Box Office at 815/758-1215.
