Stage Coach Players Brings Funny Geriatric Comedy to DeKalb this May

DEKALB, ILL, April 14, 2022 – What happens when best friends come together to solve the mystery of what is happening to some of the residents at Magnolia Place Assisted Living?  The answer to that question and others can be found during Stage Coach Players’ (SCP) May production of Four Old Broads, by Leslie Kimbell.

SCP continues its 75th season with the hilarious comedy Four Old Broads, a new comedy that mixes farcical hijincks with the sass of television’s The Golden Girls in a contemporary setting.  The play runs from May 5 – 15, 2022, and will be directed by Anita Biletzky.  Biletzky last directed the black box production of The Orphan Train.

When Four Old Broads opens, retired burlesque queen Beatrice Shelton, a resident of Magnolia Place Assisted Living, is in dire need of a vacation.  She attempts to convince her best friend Eaddy Mae Clayton to go with her, but things have changed where they live since Nurse Jones began working there.  Maude Jenkins is obsessing over a soap opera and planning her own funeral.  Imogene Fletcher is losing her memory and former Elvis impersonator Sam Smith is hitting on every woman in the place.

Shortly, a mystery unfolds as the girls attempt to outsmart Nurse Jones.  Laughter ensues as Imogene has to go undercover and Maude enters the Miss Magnolia Senior Citizen Pageant.  If Beatrice and her friends can throw Pat off their trail, they may be able to solve the mystery and go on their cruise.

Four Old Broads premiered in March of 2017 in Winder, Georgia, with it’s first professional production opening at Centre Stage Greenville, Greenville, South Carolina in September of 2017 and has been pleasing audiences around the country since.  This play contains some adult language and humor.

Performances for Four Old Broads are May 5 – 7, 2022 and May 13 – 14, 2022 with a curtain time of 7:30 p.m. along with Sunday matinees on May 8 and May 15, 2022, with a curtain time of 2:00.   Tickets are $15 each or $13 for seniors and children aged 13 and under.  Tickets are currently on sale through the box office phone at 815-758-1940.  To purchase tickets, visit our online website at www.stagecoachplayers.com.  You can also call the SCP box office at 815-758-1940.  The box office will open Sunday, May 1, 2022.
